CNC s used to cut large shapes and forms in medium and high density foams, the basis for large works.

We cut in Negative and bond multiple foam blocks together to make large accurate moulds into which we can cast a variery of materials like Concrete, Jesmonite, fibreglass.

The process has allowed us to deliver a 16M concrete turtle and a 50M epoxy terrazzo stylalised Eel for a museum.

Casting resins are essential when high fidelity, surface detail, or material versatility is required.

At CDM, we work with epoxy, vinylester, and fibreglass-based systems to produce rigid and flexible molds, as well as lightweight, precision-cast replicas.

These materials are ideal for museum-grade reproductions, functional prototypes, and composite elements where stability, finish quality, and paintability are key. Their adaptability also makes them well-suited for multi-material assemblies and demanding environments.

Concrete remains a reliable material for projects that demand mass, permanence, and structural integrity.

CDM acquire engineering certification and guidance inline with the project's scope.

Concrete’s adaptability—allows us to cast into engineered steel work, cnc'ed foam and highly detailed silicone with varied textures, pigments, and aggregates—enables us to replicate historical materials or design custom finishes tailored to project-specific goals.

ARTEC LEO 2 — In-House & Site-Based 3D Scanning

CDM uses the Artec Leo 2 on a day-to-day basis to capture high-quality 3D scans of sculptures, physical objects, and real-world artifacts. These scans are brought into our modelling software, where they form the foundation for further design and development, often transitioning into 3D printing and CNC-based solutions for project delivery. The Leo 2’s fully wireless design is particularly valuable to our workflow, giving us the flexibility to capture accurate scans in hard-to-access environments and remote site locations where traditional scanning setups would be impractical.

In many cases, 3D prints act as an intermediate step—undergoing priming before painting, or being molded for casting in durable materials.

As an inhouse tool CDM operates three advanced SLA (Stereolithography) 3D printers, including one of the largest available in Australia, with a 1000mm x 1000mm x 600mm build area.

This mature technology enables the production of high-detail, high-precision parts for a wide range of industries and creative applications.
