CDM supplied various oversized invertebrates for a new exhibition – Our Wondrous Planet at Melbourne Museum. CDM contributed to the SOIL exhibit where all of the critters were scaled up to 1:100.

Various big bugs

CDM’s build list included a 2m Australian Bull ant, 1m Termite, 700mm Amphipod (land prawn) and additional smaller elements.

CDM were responsible for digital modelling and worked in an iterative manner with museum staff to refine the sculptures.

After approval, additional digital modelling for the interior metalwork and hanging positions was completed, followed by the preparation of working and final drawings for fabrication approval.

Models were subdivided for ease of printing on our large-format SLA resin printers, then painted to client references, packed in custom crates, and transported across the country to Victoria.
