Megafauna models, exhibition interactions and display fossil replicas
This exhibition tells the story of how life in Australia has evolved, adapted, and survived through millions of years of dramatic environmental change, exploring how species have endured, transformed, and in some cases disappeared over millions of years.
It takes visitors on an immersive journey through Australia’s distinct environments, from prehistoric landscapes once inhabited by megafauna to present-day deserts, forests, coastal seas, and urban ecosystems.
Working from design intent and reference material, CDM developed and constructed large-scale prehistoric and contemporary fauna that form key storytelling elements within the gallery.
Our process
The models play an important role in bringing the narrative of Australia’s natural history to life, allowing visitors to engage closely with extinct and living species in an immersive setting.
Each piece was carefully fabricated with a strong focus on anatomical accuracy, surface detail, and durability to meet the demands of a public exhibition environment.
Through workshop fabrication and hand-finished detailing, CDM translated conceptual design into physical, tactile forms that enhance the overall visitor experience.
